NEW PROPERTIES
What can the Flodef System offer developers and builders?
The Government’s aim to deliver thousands of much-needed new homes within the M11, Thames Gateway and Ashford corridor areas has created a unique quandary for property developers.
These areas all include flood plain of varying risk and the relevant planning guidance PPG25 requires a flood risk analysis which often leads to a requirement for ‘flood resistance’ on new developments where a risk is identified.
Deciding what constitutes adequate ‘flood resistance’ is not easy, especially as the relevant Building Regulations will not have caught up with the planning guidance until 2009. So what are developers to do in the meantime?
It makes sense, in this situation, to choose the most secure flood defence system you can find, which is why several developers have approached Flodef.
Flodef, in alliance with Anderson Monarflex, part of the Icopal Group, has launched a barrier-based flood resistance system called ‘Flodef New-Build’. The system uses tried and tested materials developed by Anderson Monarflex and used extensively in tanking, geomembrane and gas membrane applications.
Flodef are confident that the system will provide the level of resistance necessary to meet any flood resistance requirements that might be introduced into the Building Regulations. The Kitemark gives us credibility in the
UK
and also internationally. The
UK
is the only country so far to develop standards for systems such as ours and we are delighted Flodef is the first company in the world to achieve this badge for quality.
